My first merges

Tuesday, December 18th, 2007

During the last week the MOTU world was working hard on Syncs & Merges. I’ve gone trough the official documentation for Merging (great work!) and I complemented it with the always good guidance in #ubuntu-motu and an useful MOTU Q&A session (on Friday 14th) . The result: my first merges!

I worked on the following packages: gproftpd , hardware-monitor , mailping , endeavour and vpnc. Just the last one isn’t uploaded yet, because I have to test if the updated package effect its related packages (Hint: $ apt-cache rdepends src_pkg_name).

As persia said on #ubuntu-motu, the current development phase is focused on integration, find things that don’t build (aren’t build from source, don’t work together, etc)… new ways to learn more about the Ubuntu development, MOTU and packaging skills.

Do you want to try? Become a MOTU yourself;-)

Junta Ubuntera: Ubuntu-cl in action!

Sunday, December 16th, 2007

As Pedro said before, on Saturday 24th of November we had our first “real” meeting as LoCo called Junta Ubuntera in Santiago, the capital of Chile.

It was a real success, because many of us were just “virtual ubunteros” and these day we met, shared our points of view about LoCo government, discussed about next year plan, our mission and responsibilities, and evaluated this year’s activities.

Thanks to everyone who made it possible, specially to the organizers and the Oratorio Don Bosco school that hosted this meeting, a special place because is using Ubuntu for their educational projects :-)

Our next meeting will be on April, in Viña del Mar. See you there!
