Nuevo mirror de Ubuntu

Tuesday, August 19th, 2008

* Arquitecturas: i386, amd64.
* Paquetes: binarios y sources.
* Secciones: main, restricted, universe y multiverse.
* Releases: Dapper, Feisty, Gutsy, Hardy e Intrepid.
* Extras: $release-{security,updates,backports,proposed}.

Para ocupar el mirror, basta con añadir la siguiente línea a /etc/apt/sources.list (como root)

deb http://mirror.gnucv.cl/ubuntu release seccion

Por ejemplo, si tenemos instalado Hardy Heron, debemos agregar:

deb http://mirror.gnucv.cl/ubuntu hardy main universe multiverse restricted
deb http://mirror.gnucv.cl/ubuntu hardy-updates main universe multiverse restricted

Luego

apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade

Espero que este recurso sea de gran utilidad para los ubunteros.

Saludos!

Junta Ubuntera: Ubuntu-cl in action!

Sunday, December 16th, 2007

As Pedro said before, on Saturday 24th of November we had our first “real” meeting as LoCo called Junta Ubuntera in Santiago, the capital of Chile.

It was a real success, because many of us were just “virtual ubunteros” and these day we met, shared our points of view about LoCo government, discussed about next year plan, our mission and responsibilities, and evaluated this year’s activities.

Thanks to everyone who made it possible, specially to the organizers and the Oratorio Don Bosco school that hosted this meeting, a special place because is using Ubuntu for their educational projects :-)

Our next meeting will be on April, in Viña del Mar. See you there!

The MOTU Team and me

Tuesday, December 4th, 2007

Time ago I heard something about the MOTU team, and I said: I should give it a go! :-) I attended a MOTU session during the Feisty Open Week, and dholbach told us about this world… an interesting challenge – I though.

Daniel inspired me to cross the red line and I started quickly with MOTU related tasks during the Gutsy Cycle; with Daniel as mentor and other guys who helped me, I did the following things:

Updates:
amsn (0.97RC1+dfsg-0ubuntu1)
evolution-sharp (0.14.0.1-0ubuntu1)
alleyoop (0.9.3-0ubuntu1)
∘ gnome-themes (2.20.0-0ubuntu1)
gproftpd (8.3.2-0ubuntu1)
nginx (0.5.26-0ubuntu1)

Sync requests:
ipod-sharp
rubrica

As you can see, I have to learn about merges… and Hardy Heron is waiting for them!

MOTU team is a very good place to learn how to work in teams, with people from different parts of the world and, of course, communication skills are the most important thing.

Thanks to everyone who supported me during the last release cycle. It was special because I felt as a real contributor! (Nowadays, I can reply the common phrase: Show me the code! ;-) )

From this week I’ll have more time to continue with my MOTU journey… BTW, as Efrain, I had a Master of The Universe long time ago … the Prince Adam:

Prince Adam
go, go, go MOTU![tags] Ubuntu, Ubuntu devel, MOTU[/tags]
